Josh Flores is introduced in One Day at a Time, as a popular boy, from Elena's English class. He's the captain of the baseball team. Alex idolizes Josh and wants Josh to think he's cool.
Elena asks Josh to be her quinces escort ,in hopes that he will turn her down, and Lydia won't make her have an escort. However, Josh accepts.
When Elena is questioning her sexuality, she tries to force an attraction to Josh—because they have similar interests and he's a nice, cute dude. When Elena is coming out to her mother, she says that if she did like guys, Josh would be perfect. However, she didn't feel anything romantic to him. Josh is accepting of Elena when she comes out to him, and still escorts her to her quinceañera.
